A series of portals, windows to another dimension, auras. Channeling visceral emotion, Madeleine’s paintings peer into the depths. These explorations of inner space are inspired by the elements, pulling forms and tones from the natural world. Layering ephemeral shapes, both remnants of the past and new identities emerge. Rough markings and fluid forms hold space for representations of their ever-shifting identity and expressions of queerness, moving toward external and internal restoration. Dietrich visually diarizes love and loss and communes with their former and future selves. Warm and cool tones communicate the balance found in nature, rooted in the self.
